Executive Camp Director

Our family, friends, board of directors, volunteers, and donors could not be more excited to see Camp Idlewild preparing for our first, ever, campers!

We have been working on the development of Camp Idlewild since 2013 and, believe me, we are ready to open our doors. The excitement we feel is seen in the attention to detail, in our beautiful lodge and grounds and more so in the faces of those who have been anxiously awaiting our opening season. Our team has worked diligently throughout the process of registering as a non-profit tax exempt organization, property and site plan development, permitting, construction, financial planning, and now the amazing staff and programs we will offer our campers.

We have support from the top camp consultants in the country and so many other camp professionals who lend their knowledge, expertise, and just about anything we have asked for. We are now part of an amazing industry! My peronal experience as a Camp Counselor impacted my life in such a positive way and even today I can honestly say that those were some of the best memories created in my Life! My hope is that we can help kids create these kinds of lasting memories and lifetime friends!

Camping has so much to offer kids and families and we are proud to be able to provide camp experiences for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I know from personal experience about the lack of recreational experiences for kids with Autism. My son, now 16, was lucky enough to be a Boy Scout and was able to camp, though his father or I always accompanied him. He would have been thrilled to attend summer camp with his cousins over the years, if only the camp "believed" the setting was "right for him." My son has excelled in so many ways and we feel blessed everyday to have such a gifted, talented and intelligent son who loves to socialize. His only limitations were those imposed on others who, unfortunately, are not educated about kids on the spectrum.

Today, as we continue to move toward our opening day, we are so excited to see the outpouring of support from our community and literally hundreds of caring friends and new acquaintances. From  the stranger my mother met last week who offered to donate all of trees needed for our landscaping plan, to the high school students who cannot wait to volunteer, to the service clubs who have offered camper scholarships, we continue to be amazed!

We are looking forward to finding our first CAMP DIRECTOR! This, our first year of camp, will be an exciting and memorable time for all!

We can't wait to meet you!
