Summer Camp

Opening 2020!

Camp Idlewild will open its doors for the first time in 2020! We could not be more excited to welcome campers of All Abilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders to a traditional camp where FUN is our main mission! At camp we are planning weeks of fun, friendship, and adventure for kids on the spectrum ages 6 to 17 wirth an additional Weekend Camps for all campers plus those 18+ years old. Campers will be able to choose between weekend camp and weeklong overnight camp, both promise to be exciting!

In addition to summer camp, Camp Idlewild will offer Teen Leadership activities for our Peer Mentor Program (PMP) and/or Counselors In Training (CIT) program who want to hone their skills and have fun. Keep in touch as we publish specifics about our programs and camp activities! We are also working on a camp session / program for Siblings!

What is camp all about?

Studies have shown that going to summer camp helps youth grow in areas such as self-confidence, independence, making friends, exploring and learning new activities. Even for a short time period, time spent at camp can benefit a child all the way through adulthood. To read some studies highlighting the benefits of camp click on this link.

Our camp program is open for campers 6-17 years old with additional weekend camps for campers 18+ years old. Our low staff to camper ratio allows us to have flexible, choice-based programs. Campers may participate in classic camp activities, and they can access the program at a level where they feel comfortable. Our staff knows how to adjust activities to be accessible for kids who are anxious about trying new things, have sensory sensitivities, different communication styles, short term memory issues, a difficult time with groups, or who need more support around transitions. Health care professionals are onsite at all times and we are less than 30 minutes from hospitals.

We plan to offer weekend camp programs for all campers including those aged 18+ years old. This program will be offered in the Fall and Spring.

The cost of the overnight program is $800 for the week (financial aid is available)

The cost of the weekend camp program is $250 for the week (financial aid is available)
